02/27/2007 - Buffalo, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Moments after dealing backup goaltender Martin Biron, the Buffalo Sabres found his replacement by acquiring veteran netminder Ty Conklin from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fifth-round choice in the 2007 NHL draft.
Conklin has split this season between Columbus and the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse. In 11 games, including six starts, with the Blue Jackets, the 30-year-old posted a 2-3-2 record with a 3.30 goals-against average.
The Alaska native signed with the Blue Jackets over the summer to serve as the backup for Pascal Leclaire, but was beaten out by Fredrik Norrena for the team's No. 2 netminder job during the preseason and began the 2006-07 campaign in the minors. Conklin was recalled to Columbus in December after Leclaire suffered a knee injury.
Conklin spent his first three NHL seasons with Edmonton and started 35 games for the Oilers in 2003-04. He has a 29-22-4-3 record with a 2.60 goals-against average in 71 career contests (58 starts).
Biron was dealt to Philadelphia for a second-round pick in this year's draft. The former first-round selection went 12-4-1 with a 3.04 goals-against average in 19 games as All-Star Ryan Miller's understudy this season.

The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.
