Bryzgalov perfect as Coyotes shut out Blue Jackets

Hockey Betting Lines

12/21/2008 - Glendale, AZ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 33 shots to record his sixth career shutout, as the Phoenix Coyotes continued their recent dominance at home with a 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Steven Reinprecht and Mikkel Boedker lit the lamp for the Coyotes, who are 5-0-1 in their last six games at Jobing.com Arena.

Rookie Steve Mason, who entered play Saturday with a league-leading 1.91 goals-against average, allowed two goals on 24 shots for Columbus, which has dropped three of its last four games.

Columbus outshot Phoenix 10-4 in a scoreless opening 20 minutes, but couldn't solve Bryzgalov.

Reinprecht put the Desert Dogs on the board just past the midway point of the second period. Ken Klee unleashed a wrister from the top of the slot area which Mason kicked out with the right pad. Reinprecht collected the rebound and tucked it home with 9:37 remaining.

Phoenix capitalized on a turnover in the attacking zone to grab a 2-0 lead at the 6:52 mark of the third period. Boedker, the eighth overall pick in last June's draft, went to the backhand and lifted the puck underneath the left arm of Mason.

Game Notes

The Coyotes swept Columbus in the four-game season series...The Blue Jackets have lost seven straight on the road...Phoenix went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Columbus finished 0-for-2.
